Brooks Range Tradition

Formerly, this period was considered a hiatus for human occupation in the Brooks Range region (Anderson 1968, 1984; Henn 1978).

Schoenberg (1995) argues that the Brooks Range Tradition (circa 8000-6000 BP) separates the Paleoarctic Tradition and the Northern Archaic Tradition. Technological elements of both the preceding and following traditions, including flaked burins and microblades in the former and side-notched bifacial points in the latter, are found in varying proportions in Brooks Range Tradition sites.
